Splash on lips
Splashing lips is a popular method of lip correction that does not require cuts on the lips. It is now one of the most common procedures that doctors perform in the field of cosmetic surgery. A patient survey from 2017 confirms this: 7.4 percent of the patients had a lip augmentation performed, reports the German Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (DGÄPC).
The
survey also revealed that not only women have their lips injected, but that men
too have their lips enlarged more and more often. Common reasons for lip
injections are narrow, too flat or asymmetrically shaped lips.
Splash on lips nearby - find the
right doctor
There are several professional groups who are
allowed to inject lips. This includes not only doctors, but also beauticians
and alternative practitioners. However, it is always advisable to have lip
augmentation carried out by a doctor, for example a specialist in dermatology
or plastic surgery.
Doctors have the necessary specialist knowledge and
usually have sufficient experience with treatments such as lip
augmentation. Some prominent examples show that lip spraying can go badly
wrong. Your enlarged lips often look very unnatural and are sometimes
reminiscent of a "rubber dinghy". In addition, doctors can
intervene quickly if complications arise. Examples: The filling material
blocks a blood vessel or wound infection occurs.
Splash lips:
techniques
Splash
lips - with what? There are several answers to this question! Because
several methods and techniques are known for lip augmentation. Most often,
doctors give the lips more volume with the help of certain filling materials,
so-called fillers . Usually
hyaluronic acid and autologous fat are used as fillers because they are
considered to be well tolerated. You can also do something yourself to
make your lips appear bigger: with the right make-up!
Splash lips with hyaluronic acid
In
this treatment method, the beauty specialist injects hyaluronic
acid into the lips. This substance has the
ability to bind water and can make the lips look fuller. Hyaluronic acid
is a normal part of connective tissue and most people tolerate it
well. Splashing on the lips is largely “natural”.
Another
advantage is that doctors can inject, fill in and smooth out any wrinkles on
the upper or lower lip (perioral folds around the mouth) in the same treatment
session. The so-called Cupid's bow - a heart-shaped curve in the middle of
the upper lip - can also be shaped more clearly and beautifully.
Many
do not find the prick during the injection particularly pleasant or even
painful. As an alternative, it is now possible to fill in lips without a
syringe. A hyaluronic acid pen is used for
injecting lips. It pushes the hyaluronic acid into the lips with high
pressure, which should hardly be noticeable.
Splash on lips with autologous fat
Doctors can
also use autologous fat for
lip augmentation. In this so-called "lipofilling", they suck off
small amounts of fatty tissue from another area of the body, such as the
abdomen or thighs. The procedures is carried out on an outpatient basis
under local anesthesia. Laboratory doctors then specially prepare the
autologous fat. Then the woman or man receives the fat cells back via an
injection into the lips - the volume of the lips increases. Because
autologous fat is an endogenous material, most people tolerate it well.
Inject lips yourself?
It
is not recommended that you do the lips yourself. There are now hyaluronic
acid injections available in stores without a prescription that promise fuller
lips. It is better to find a specialist and do not put your hand to your
lips yourself. Because you usually don't know:
- exactly
where to place the syringe.
- how
deep you have to put this.
- how
much hyaluronic acid to inject.
The
attempt can go completely wrong and the cosmetic result is then less than
satisfactory. Nodules, bulges and asymmetries can form. Not to
mention the side effects or injuries you could inflict on yourself.
Enlarge lips naturally
If
you don't want to have your lips sprayed on by a specialist, you can optically
enlarge your mouth with a few make-up tricks.
Some
tips for applying makeup:
- Apply a lip liner very
slightly over the actual lip edge. In this way you emphasize the
contour of the upper and lower lip.
- The
color of the lip liner should be a shade lighter than
the lipstick used.
- To
create a natural-looking transition between the edge of the lip and the
lips, you can slightly blur the contour line inwards .
- Then
apply the lipstick and dab some more lip gloss on
the middle of the lips - then rub it in a little.
